  1. Yep.

I was lucky to have ridden some of the "name" trains that the SP ran, including the "Coast Daylight," the "Lark," the "Owl," the "Del Monte," the "Shasta Daylight," the "Suntan Special" and the "Sunset."

I rode a couple in Brazil, the "Kingston Flyer" in New Zealand and the "Lahiana & Kaanapali Pacific" on the Island of Maui in Hawaii.

Also have ridden the "Skunk" out of Fort Bragg to Willits, California, as well as the "Roaring Camp and Big Trees" in Felton, California.

This summer I am going to the Nevada Northern in Ely, Nevada, to partake of their "Rent an Engine" program.  You give 'em $645 and get a crash course (Hmm.  That may have been a poor choice of words), actually a couple hours of required classroom instruction, then you get to run a mainline trip (Literally.  YOU run the engine) on an old Baldwin Consolidation.  So, I'm going to go play choo choo for a day.

  2. yes, for 4 days

  3. Many times.  USA, England, Wales, Ireland, Canada.

    Great way to travel.

  4. Yes. subway & old historic railway

  5. I have ridden on trains frequently ever since I was a child. I used to find a train journey exciting and something of an adventure but nowadays there is little to interest me. It is about as exciting for me as going on a bus and I don't get much of a thrill out of that, either.

The exception is when I am travelling over a route I have not been on before, or not been on for a long time. Then the journey is a bit more interesting. Steam trains on heritage railways are also more fun to travel on and I've been on those a few times.

  6. The cairo to aswan train takes about 14 to 16 hours. Well worth taking  if you are in that part of the world.

  7. Numerous times.

In addition to the hundreds of trips on CN freight trains that gives me my paycheque every two weeks, I've rode others as well.

I've rode Amtrak a few times in Florida while visiting relatives; I was a regular commuter on GO Transit while I was a student in Toronto; I've rode several tourist trains in my North American travels; and I've had the pleasure of taking a few VIA trains through the years.

  8. Yes, used to take one to work every day...it was great!

  9. YES IT WAS FUN

  10. A long time ago, when I was a kid, we took a field trip to another city.  It was cool.

If you're talking about like  the subway system, then yeah I've ridden them in NYC and DC.  Also the people mover in Detroit.

  11. no, just the subway system
