And then travelled there to see it with your own eyes? Was it better than you could have imagined, or was it a disappointment?

  1. I saw a picture of Angkor Wat in a National Geographic Magazine in the 8th grade and decided I would go there one day.

I went there last summer and it was better than I could have ever imagined.

  2. Petra in Jordan.  The 'rose coloured city'.  It was carved into the rocks 600BC.  If you can imagine temple fascades carved into really steep cliff faces you will get the idea.  Plus, there was Bedouin people still living in the caves up until the mid-1980's.  It was more breath-taking than I had imagined.  The Bungle-Bungles in the Kimberlies (Western Australia), the Swiss Alps, the pyramids in Egypt, the Canadian Rockies  and the Grand Canyon in the USA were also very impressive.
