  1. Hi,

Sniffer dogs are present at almost all airports especially after september 11 most of the times behind the scenes. i have seen sniffer dogs at Amsterdam, Barcelona, New York, Hong Kong, Manila and Singapore...... In amsterdam they even let u play with the dogs...

  2. Can't speak for Toronto but I've certainly seen them at JFK and at Bristol (UK) airport personally, and have seen them in action on the TV series "Airline" and "Airport" at various airports (including Heathrow and Miami).

Sometimes they're behind the scenes, sniffing the baggage as it goes on the arrivals belt, but they can also be in the arrivals area generally sniffing people and their hand baggage.

With few resources, they tend to concentrate on the more "suspect" flights, ie those routes known for drug trafficking.

  3. Yes, in Newark and Rome, but not anywhere else that I can recall.

  4. I fly into San Francisco and LA quite a bit from Asia and often see sniffer dogs usually around the baggage carousels, the dogs are usually beagles and the only time I saw them find something it turned out to be food. The customs dog handler will take the dog from bag to bag sniffing for drugs and food. I also understand that there are quite a few dogs in the baggage handling areas out of sight of the passengers where the dogs are sniffing the checked baggage for drugs, bombs and whatever. I've never been to Toronto.

  5. I have seen police dogs at several airports. Airports are not good places to possess drugs.
