Question:

Have you ever seen such a bargain as the Liberian 9/11 commemorative?

Here's what I wrote to the National Collector's Mint:

I was referred to you by the order line, where the information

I sought was unavailable, as the place to get answers to the

following questions:

1) What is the weight in (Troy?) ounces of this commemorative?

2) Is it really only forty cents U.S? The flyer states that my cost

is the face value of $20 plus $4 S&H, and LRD$24 converts to

approximately USD$0.40. Since the letter was signed by

Barry M. Goldwater, Jr., I know you would not attempt to

deceive people into believing that the face value of Liberian

currency is comparable to that of U.S. currency.

Conservatives could not possibly be that underhanded, no

matter what over a quarter of a century of devastation from

voodoo economics might suggest.

Sincerely,

  1. What's that old saying? "A sucker born every minute".  Personally, I think that might be an overly conservative estimate.  More likely 20 per second.  But then the population is expanding much faster now than it was when that expression was first coined.
