Someone told me long ago There's a calm before the storm,

I know; It's been coming for some time.

When it's over, so they say, It'll rain a sunny day,

I know; Shining down like water.

I want to know, Have you ever seen the rain?

I want to know, Have you ever seen the rain

Coming down on a sunny day?

Yesterday, and days before, Sun is cold and rain is hard,

I know; Been that way for all my time.

'Til forever, on it goes Through the circle, fast and slow,

I know; It can't stop, I wonder.

I want to know, Have you ever seen the rain?

I want to know, Have you ever seen the rain

Coming down on a sunny day?

  1. When I first read it to myself, it didn't seem to flow very well. So, I read it out loud and it flowed much better.  It certainly makes you stop and think- it's not the type of poem that you just get right away. I understood the point you were trying to make right away, but some of the lines felt a little confusing- you had to stop and think if you wanted to understand. It sounds like the type of poem that is very personal.  In my experience, people don't always "get" personal poems.

    Sounds good, though.

  2. No........but I've seen a bad moon rising :)

  3. Believe it if you need it or eat it if you dare.
