  1. only on tv shows, the one where they stage a wedding on a week, and they always seem happy then. So yeah, they normaly kiss, and then help clean eachother up.

my bf and me talk a lot, and we are able to seperate between what the other think may be fun or not, and respect this

if we were to have that type of wedding and all, i'd be wearing a traditional festivety type dress and they way expensive and hard to clean, so regradless of wheter we found it amusing or not wouldnt be an option at all..we dont have those kind of money to throw out the window.

  2. Yes, ME!   And I was the Maid of Honor.  My cousin's husband decided that he was gonna smash the cake in my face so his bride (my cousin) woundn't pitch a fit....Boy was I not a very happy person after that.  I had to redo my makeup and try to get cake out of my hair after that.

  3. Yep. I saw a bride smash cake into her groom's face, the man who so sweetly had fed her a piece just moments before.

And that marriage lasted less than a year. It was indicative of her immaturity and hostility.

  4. Not only did she not want cake smashed on her face, but while he was doing it, he poked her eye. She cried, went to the bathroom with me and discovered he got COLOURED frosting on her dress.

She was LIVID at him as they had talked about it before hand.

Later on she told me she spent there first night being mad at him lol.

  5. i absolulety abhorr this tradition and let my husband know that if he smashed cake in my face i would leave the reception.

not only is it messy and then the couple has to absent themselves for 20-30 minutes to get cleaned up, but it shows true lack of respect and tenderness for your new husband or wife. grow up and be mature, i say. you aren't five and playing in finger-paints.

  6. Yes I have. He was none to happy about it. And showed her by leaving the reception. She spent the rest of it apologizing to guests for her actions.

The wife and I talked about it ahead of time. Neither one of us would humiliate each other like that. We didn't. We don't see the humor in it at all. Then again it seems some weddings anymore are about getting crazy at the reception rather than celebrating the solemn and loving occasion. We refused to follow these so called modern wedding reception traditions. What a joke.

  7. My sister licked it off his nose! It was the only wedding picture that they looked happy in and that I liked... Now they are divorced and my sister is getting remarried!

  8. yes,at a family wedding the groom smashed it in the brides face, it  got all over her hair and veil and some on her dress.  the brides mother had to wipe down her hair.  no one said or did anything, but, people were pretty surprised.  most all thought it was horrible of him to do that. no class.

  9. Yes - my friend and her husband talked about smashing the cake beforehand. Both of them agreed that they would not do that. My friend's husband decided to break that agreement and smashed it in her face anyway. She was not happy after that! She went to the bathroom - along with me (her bridesmaid) and other attendants. He had got it on her dress and she was upset. But we were able to get it out...

My husband on the other hand knew better then to do that to me and I certainly didn't do that to him. I didn't want pictures with cake all of my face.

  10. She ran to the bathroom and cried for about an hour because he messed up her makeup.

  11. Yes.  He almost left the reception.  He paid a fortune for their wedding and he felt like she disrespected him... he didn't want to ruin her face and dress so he didn't smoosh her...

  12. A few times. It's usually the bride who gets it in the face after spending hundreds of dollars on her hair, makeup, and dress. I saw one bride who had her DH smash it in her face, she ran off crying, and pulled the divorce card right there. They did divorce after 3 years. The funny thing is, so many saw nothing wrong with it! They say it is a "tradition" to smash the cake in eachother's face. WTF! Feeding eachother cake w/o smashing it is the first sign of trust your spouse shows you. When I was at that point in my wedding, people chanted for us to smash it! We didn't and so many were really let down! I loved my husband even more for not doing that to me.

  13. What a sad way to start off a new marriage.
