Have you ever slept through an earthquake?

Ok, us Californians had a pretty good sized earthquake today at 11:32am.

I work at night and don't get home until 7am, so I slept through it. I found out later that I live only 8 miles away from the epicenter of the earthquake.

What's even worse is that MOST of my pictures and paintings fell from the wall and I was soooo knocked out that I didn't hear the shattering glass, either!

Am I the only one that can sleep soundly during the course of a major disaster?

  1. I have slept through one.  I didn't even know it happened.

  2. Thanks to wine and Lunesta I can sleep through anything!

The only one I didn't sleep through here was Loma Preita, which was 7.5 I beleive.  The after shocks were even worse.

It's earthquake season so brace yourselves for some big ones in Cali this year.

  3. i once slept through an earthquake thought it was small and the house barely shook because GA earthquake are very small and very rare

  4. Sure, it happens, although the Northridge quake definitely DID wake me (& everyone else in my neighborhood)up. I'm in California, too -- But didn't feel this one because I was on the road. Apparently you're pretty secure & give yourself wholly up to sleep! Sorry about the breakage...but glad it wasn't worse.

  5. I slept through the '71 Sylmar quake.....I woke up just as the shaking stopped. I had been moving all night and fell asleep on the floor.
