  1. I wouldn't go there for Christmas.

  2. i have been to venezia at every part of the year. Christmas is alright, but the person before me is right. You should go during Carnivale. It's the best time to visit!

  3. Wet.

  4. in my opinion it's sad and cold :-(

  5. Venice is a good place to visit around Christmas. It's not so crowded and there are concerts most nights. There should be a good, free concert at the Frari in San Polo in the afternoon on the 26th.

The 26th or December is a holiday in Venice a lot of businesses will be closed. Museums like the the Guggenheim, Accademia, etc are open. They close for the 25th, but not the 26th. Most of the churches have nativity scenes that are worth seeing. There's a deconsecrated church between Rialto and the train station that has an exhibit with several nativity scenes every year. The hotel restaurants and some of the others will be opened, but a lot of the restaurants close for several weeks starting from Christmas.

Venere.com is a good site for booking hotels in Italy. http://en.venere.com/hotels_venice/ You can sort by price, location in the city, guest rating, and other criteria. There are also reviews by past guests that can help you know what to expect.

  6. I would suggest to skip Venice for Christmas. If you can visit Venice from 25 of January until 5 of February, during the Carnival 2008.
