I actually dated a man for 5 years that I met in an IRC chat room back in 1993. We even lived together for 3 years. Ultimately it didn't work out but not necessarily because we met through a chat room ...

Yeah, actually. We have a friend in the UK that is an awesome person. We've talked on the phone, had webcams up so we could have a beer together, it's pretty neat.

YES. I do however speak to many, many people on the internet and have only met two in real life. (This excludes people that I knew personally before I chatted to them on internet).

theres a lot of success stories on here isn't there. I met one of my contacts when I went to visit Dublin 2 weeks ago, had a bevy and a gab, it was good to put  face to the questions and the avatar.

But then I'm not interested in meeting anybody with whom I may have contact on the net. I rarely even answer e-mails.

If I want to meet people I turn the computer off and go out in to the real world to do it.

There is a lot to be said for being able to see the whites of the eyes of those you communicate with.

Yep I met a couple playing Guild Wars, now we talk every day and see one another about four times a year! We're going visiting again next week!

Yes.  and she turned out to be a freak.  We are in a chat room together and have a common interest in art.  There was a conference that we were both going to so I got to meet her there.  Come to find out she is dating 2 people that live with her and her kids and it is a whole sick thing going on there.  I dont care about what they do in the bedroom but it is all the lies that they told and how they were in public lmao.  Then I met another lady from the same group and her and her husband turned out to be wonderful people.  So the moral of the story is you never know until you meet them what they are really like lol.
