  1. no

  2. Yeah, it's just like missing in the middle of the school year - the school will understand. Just tell them you're having a family emergency, and they'll get it.

  3. We're moving at the end of the month out of state.  Our school here starts on Sept 2.  The district we're moving to started today.  My daughter will be a full month behind her class.

  4. Well it would depend on the reason. A death in the family we had to go away for, yes. But if it was not something major then no I would not. They do a lot of assessing the beginning of school and its important a child be there for that also for making friends etc.

  5. It is much harder for the child to start after his/her peers.  If the event happening out of school affects THEM and they can't focus or concentrate or manage to emotionally attend..then waiting might be ok, but let your school guidance or counselor know what is going on.

It is really important to keep good communication with the school - they can be a great source of support.

It also depends on the age of the student, but on average, it is better to start when everyone is starting.

  6. yes my sister did,her kids started 1 months late cause she lost her job and was in a shelter, but she had proof why they started late and everything was alright.

  7. Well, when I was in high school I skipped out on the first full day of school b/c I was showing sheep in the fair.  I was a very good student, so they didn't seem to care too much.

  8. Yes, in the military you move all the time and you may not be ready to put your child in on the first day of school...and when a friend got divorced her kids started late, we did not get paid on time one year and had to wait to buy school stuff and clothes.

  9. I did I had just moved in where I was and school started two weeks earlier

than the old school. I had them in within two days I still felt bad though.
