I didn't think the Galapagos were noted for surfing.

Yes, in a town called Moñtanita. Although the Ecuadorian coast is beautiful and the town of Moñtanita is a hippy paradise, I don't think it was the best surf ever. But none the less easily surfable.

A hostel will run you about 5-10 (US) per night. And you can rent a board there if you want. Plenty to eat and drink and some live music.
