I mean, have you seen people expressing their philosophical ideas, completing their profile and yet... their way of living proves they are the contrary of what they claim ?

  1. Some of them are great pretenders and some of them are just simple and naive.  In fact, there are so many different possibilities in between.

  2. "An education isn't how much you have committed to memory, or even how much you know.  It's being able to differentiate between what you do know and what you don't."  Anatole France.

(Socrates with the Mindfulness of Plotinus.)

  3. Fake people constitute the majority.

  4. Not really because often a person's thoughts or philosophies come though from their inner core...their hopes, dreams, wishes, ideas, challenges and so on are pushed to the back because of everyday life and the necessity of having to make a living. It may not allow them to be who they "feel" they truly are inside but when asked to express themselves in an open forum such as this one, they find their "voice".  The exception I would mention is  when you notice a person's Q&A  are inconsistent.  One day they may seem really "deep" and ask soul searching questions while on another day, you may see a hint of sarcasm and revenge, maybe even delirium.  This is not the "norm" around Y/A, however...I think, for the most part, what you see from people is how they truly see the world from their vantage point whether it entail seriousness, humor, sorrow, joy...it's all pretty level once a user has become familiar.  Alice, am I rambling?  I think maybe, a little, but I hope I have explained my meaning.  I may be off the mark, but, at the least, I think I've made a point to consider.  Marvelous question, by the way...you made me have to use my brain... lol

  5. Their words contradict their actions.

I certainly have come across my fair share.

One can only hope that they will eventually see the light.

    Cannot agree with you more.

  6. the "first impression" matters a lot...

  7. Theirs is an attempt to forget their real selves, which contrasts sharply with their expressed thoughts; it is the very opposite, and this is the trick to 'balance themselves out'. But it is just short-lived make-belief and they know it, and also that they must face their devil sooner or later - later in their case, as late as possible.

  8. oh yes

it irritates the c**p out of me

i hate hypocrites and people who constantly contradict themselves

i like the question though, have a star

  9. Applying logic to human behaviour is most illogical.

  10. I think sometimes people like to 'intellectually m********e' and not really 'live' anything they talk about...it irritates me, but hey.. i'd rather people think than not think.

  11. Unfortunately this is the norm today.

People say what they think everybody wants to hear.

h**l, there are some who couldn't conjure up a philosphical thought if their life depended on it, yet if you give them a minute, they can come up with a kick-butt sound byte.

It's just the nature of the beast.

  12. Hahaha...they sing songs that they don't fully understand the lyrics too.

They like the way the ideas sound but don't follow through with them.

I would rather have someone sing in silence but understand the tunes they sing...then misinterpret the sounds.

  13. No

I take things for wet they appear to be and if in the end i am wrong then I pay the price in my reputation being trashed.

And now for a fitting though obscure video from Bedazzled when the Devil explains himself:

  14. Maybe they are plain confused as to their identity!?!

I give them benefit of doubt!  (Even though I'm not sure what or who exactly you have in mind!).

  15. i've suspected that...But...

at one point or another i think we will all find that our beliefs will contradict our actions..

this doesn't necessarily make us "fake"...
