And if so, regular season or postseason?

For good or for ill, a broom has become the required fan prop for the final game of a series, when one team or the other is going for the sweep.

Have YOU ever brought along a broom?

I haven't, and would not. It's just... crass. Winning should be enough. Bringing a broom is gloating with toys, or a desperate bid to get two seconds of TV face time.

I kinda understand the broom in the postseason, emotions are high, a clinching game may be at hand, and the elimination format means that This Is It, no tomorrows. But regular season -- sheesh, leave it at home.

  1. Have you ever brought an octopus to a hockey game?

  2. It has been 16 yrs but I did in 1992 when the Pirates swept the Phillies.

We also had corn stalks for resembling the field of dreams.

  3. No, I haven't and I'm really surprised they still let people take them in. A broom, in reality, if used the wrong way by the wrong person, could be considered a "weapon."

  4. No. First of all, I wouldn't want to lug a broom all around the ballpark all day. And waving a broom for 5 minutes doesn't sound like too much fun to me. But I haven't tried it yet. I may go to my backyard to see the joy of it that others see and I don't.

I have never done it, and I highly doubt I ever will.

  5. I wouldn't bring it to a game, because if your team loses you look like an idiot.  Also it is gloating, I agree.  When the White Sox swept the World Series in 2005 we did put a broom in our flag holder in front of our house.  I would do it again too, because it isn't over the top, and we aren't shoving it in anyone's face.
