This weekend all my friends are going to Vegas- (for the 4th) and I feel if I go I will probably end up drinking ALOT and really become more upset abou the situation.. I would like suggestions/opinions/stories on taking a mini vacation by yourself.. (Not out of the country or even state) I just want to get out of the city of I live in.... Go somewere else.... 1. I live in Texas and my girlfriend Angie lives in Illinois.  I recently started visiting her up North as she comes here once a year to stay with us for a short.

Guess i would feel weird about going anywhere without SOMEONE i knew and doing alot of research into where I was going.

Do some thinking.  Research what is available in your state and HAVE YOURSELF A HECK OF A GOOD TIME!  Just do something that interests YOU for a change!

    Have at it!

  2. There are so many options around you and in California.  Isn't there somewhere nearby that you always wondered about but never went?  Take the plunge and go!  I've gone on many vacations by myself and have found them in many cases to be much more fun than those I've gone on with others!  Make hotel reservations in advance, or wing it, bring a book, for down time (like at night or early in the morning), plenty of money, plenty of gas in the car, a map, and have fun!

  4. Hi. I'm sorry to hear you broke up with your long-term ex. I've just come out of an engagement and it can be really hard. You're clued up about not drinking - definitely the right move.

Going places means that there will be a lot of tourists there and that usually means families and couples which can be quite depressing. I know this is going to sound a little self indulgent but if I may suggest it - pamper yourself. Check yourself into a spa hotel (it need not be far away or expensive and you can find some good places by looking online or in a directory / referrals from friends and family). I came across this http://orangecounty.citysearch.com/round... and they seem to have quite a selection. Treat yourself to facials / manicures / pedicures and massages, etc. Chill in the evenings with a good book or a walk and really relax. By the end of your alone time, you will feel refreshed, energised and better prepared to face your day to day life. Your only aim is to think of yourself and just yourself. It's always good for self-esteem and confidence.

Where ever the place is, in your free time (and you will have lots!) you can explore the shopping malls and maybe watch a movie, things that you might normally do with your ex will be awkward at first but eventually you'll realise that they are still enjoyable on your own and why should you deprive yourself just because you're no longer together.

I hope it works out for you and that you have fun whatever you choose to do.
