Have you ever tasted a tandoori chicken?

It is cooked in a large earthen oven fired with charcoal.It is first marinated for a few hours, before being cooked.It is a speciality of South Asia, especially, Pakistan and India. It goes well with beer or wine.

  1. I have cooked many a chicken "tandoori" style in my oven or on the grill, but an authentic tandoori chicken cooked in the real "tandoor" only a couple of times in India and once in a good Indian restaurant in Vancouver. There is nothing like it at all.

    (The reason that it is so tender is that the juices are sealed inside by the incredible heat generated by the "tandoor" that is why you simply cannot duplicate a real tandoori flavor on the grill or the oven! Oh, and its great served with mint chutney!)

  7. I love tandoori cooking. There are a number of good oven here in NYC, in the East Village on 6th Street.

    It always amazes me when a chicken can get baked like that and stay tender.
