And that your engine had to be checked like two years ago and it's about to blow up and kill you and hurt your kitty? HAVE YOU!? this bothers me so much, keeps me awake at night.

  1. obsessive compulsive at all?

  2. Nearly every car built has a simple test to insure the light works. Put your key in, turn it over to run but don't start the car. Look at the light and check that it is glowing. If it doesn't glow then it's time to have your car looked at.

  3. Usually the "Check Engine"  light comes on when you first start the engine and then goes out, so if you're that worried, stop the car, turn it off, then turn it back on and look.

(By the way, if this is all you have to worry about, you lead a charmed existence.)

  4. Maybe the light is on, is always on, and we just can't see it.  Maybe we just can't see anything, man.  There could be strange little men running around all over the place, swipin' our monies and our love interests, man.  It's because we're blind to each other's pain, man.  Be excellent to each other and you'll see the light my, friend.

  5. If in doubt raise the hood & unplug one of your sensors, think you'll find the light on. . .
