My employee did that this morning.

We treat them really well in our place and I mean really well.

We have loads of fun in the office too - but it seems that the nicer

we are the more they take advantage.

What they'd really like is if we gave them the money each morning and let them go home for the day.

I'm starting to think that all those horroble places I worked where staff got treated like slaves did this for a reason - British people are lazy!!!!!

The person who took the hangover had a day off to go to a party - so he knew he was in today - why didn't he book 2 days off if he wanted to get plastered?

I am a firm boss don't get me wrong - but I try to keep them happy by not being a bully - this method isn't working. They know the boundaries but they act like children pushing and pushing - one of them will be sacked tommorrow as she ignored a verbal warning within 8 hours - maybe this will wake the others up? I doubt it - I'm going to move my business to another country - stuff these lazy Brits.

And yes I am British.

  1. For God's Sake Woman! Don't jump ship just yet!

Stand firm! If you are the Boss, then behave as such.

NEVER be too pally with your Workers. That is just g*y and open for their abusive behavior. Believe me I know, now. . you know the various Protocols to date, administer them with a firm hand. This can be done without rancor and with tact, if they still take the P*ss, smile nicely and SACK them. Simple.

  2. You sound like a good boss. Sometimes, no matter where your business is, employees are unappreciative. However, don't change your business ways because of some bad employees. There are still a lot of people out there that would love to work for a kind boss.

Secondly, employees should be honest when they call into work.

    Thanks for asking.

  3. As long as they don't make it a habit.

  4. Ah, move to you're buisness to kiev!!!!!! because its sweet.

  5. When being the boss you have to know the boundaries.  It is important to have fun and make the place enjoyable to work at but at the same time you can not let them walk all over you.  They have to respect you and you respect them. He should not have really told you he needed the day off for a hang over, if he told you he was sick and needed the day it would not have been such a slap in the face. I do think you need to start being a little more strict.  Not crazy strict but enough that they learn it is still a job and they do need to respect you. Good Luck!
