  1. Yes, I did several times.

They have displays showing the current speed. It was over 155 mph.

  2. It goes on good days about 140-160 mph (250 kph) In the generation 3 models the speed is displayed. Here is a picture of the speed display for an ICE going 150mph (This speed is generally only possible on flat stretches (Northern Germany) or stretches with special tracks (Frankfurt-Cologne)

The train can go faster and perhaps does in China and Russia.

  3. I sat in a ICE3 and listened to slow music. The train is very quite (unlike an airplane). 160mph from Frankfurt to Cologne which is currently the newest and fastest tracks. It goes next to the Autobahn for quite a while.

There was a traffic jam on the Autobahn. Nothing beats seeing this poor soules going 1mph when you're at 160mph just 300feet away.

  4. The newest ICE 3 trains sold to Spain will travel with 350kph(217mph) in regular service, while in Germany the fastest ICE 3 are doing 300kpk (186mph) on the new lines from Cologne to Frankfurt and from Nürnberg to Munic (Starting this Summer). On other high speed lines maximum speed is 250kph(155mph)...

If you ever travel with an ICE 3 train go to the first or last car, where you can see through the front or back window, which is very impressive...

  5. these trains can reach a top speed of 250mph, but due to safety reasons they travel at a maximum speed of 175mph (ICE 1), 194mph (ICE 2) resp. 206mph (ICE 3).
