  1. Me and a thousand other indie filmmakers would disagree with the other two answers. A 35mm lens on a Panasonic DVX100, in the hands of a talented DP, would yield impressive results.

However, MiniDV is kinda low-end for these rigs nowadays; 35mm lens adapters would mostly go together with HDV cameras.

The leading manufacturers of 35mm lens adapters:

  2. it can be done but only with hi end prosumer cams like canon xl series (with interchangable lens)

it is very expensive and frankly not worth the effort.

The adaptors accommodates multiple lenses, including Nikon and Canon SLR lenses and motion-picture lenses such as Cooke and Zeiss.

They're  available for around $US1200 which includes the adapter, a 35mm lens mount, and a mounting bracket that fits a standard 15mm rod system.

  3. there are various adapters you can get and all but honestly, they're a waste of time, money, and take so much effort.  Also the picture quality won't be the same.  You'll also lose a lot of light (up to 2 stops of light loss I think) and that will kill any footage you get.

If you want your footage to look like film, shoot film.  It gets pricey, but well worth it if you have a story worth shooting.
