Have you ever visited TENERIFE?

Question

Did you like tenerife or not? Have you been in Playa de las Americas? I`m going there, in August, and i was wondering if you could tell me something more about the island itself.

yeah,my opinion only its like Blackpool with sun too commercial and full of pavement salesmen trying to get you into the "best" restaurants and bars.....not for me

I used to have an apartment in Adeje, right next to Las Americas but I haven't been back in about ten years.

Try and get away to the north of the island as it's less touristy and meet some regular locals.

I have been over 20 times, its a great place!  Like most places it has its bad and good sides, Central Playa (Veronica's area) is the bad in the sense its where all the late clubs are and as a result can be a bit lairy, Los Cristianos is quieter and I find it a bit boring.  The Torviscas.Fanabe side of Playa is more upmarket and has Quality Restaurants and Boutiques.  The beaches have grey sand due to the volcanic nature of the place, this sand may not look pretty but is very soft!  Hiring a car is best left to the brave, the taxi drivers all think they are Lewis Hamilton lol!  Watch out for the Romanian's who have trick stalls which you will NEVER win on!  Its a great place, even weather, good prices, good food etc.  The North of the island has a very insettled climate, the South is sunny and rains a few days of the year.
