  1. building up callouses on the bottom of your feet is no subsitute for the support of a good running shoe

  2. Yes, partially.

I like the sensation of walking barefoot quite a lot, plus it makes me feel closer to nature.

But also, I like how I am able to endure rougher terrain the more experience I have walking barefoot. Rougher terrain is more interesting and more fun, and feels good, really.

So I like that my bare feet can handle more.

Wish I could give up shoes forever.

  3. I don't think I would use these during marathon training, but these are interesting... simulating barefoot running.

  4. Yes, I'm already always barefoot without any trouble, even on gravel, but I still like to toughen up my feet even more. I like to walk the sidewalks in my neighborhood and I pick those that have more gravel over those that have sidewalk tiles. It's like a massage and yes, it does toughen up my feet and keep them in shape!

  5. Yes and you know it actually works :) eventually although your feet become less sensitive to other things consequently

  6. Being barefooted in public is illegal where I live.

  7. Yeah, I have.  It's hard though since I'm so used to shoes.

Abebe Bikila is my hero when it comes to marathons.

He didn't have shoes to wear and found it uncomfortable so he ran the Olympic marathon barefoot and became the first African to win Olympic gold.

But he trains barefoot too so I wouldn't recommend anyone just going out running a marathon barefoot unless you're used to it.

We become softies by wearing shoes.  Running barefoot will prevent many injuries in the long run and helps provide good form since there's nothing else to really distort it.  Shoes give all this unnecessary support.

  8. every once in a while my xc team will run striders (sprints) around the track barefoot. i think its a really good excerise to do.

  9. i have never tried it but i dont think thats a good idea especilly if ur doing long distance like me. because a proper shoes provides support so ur ankles wont hurt or u wont get shin splits or have other problems.

  10. no..
