I saw it once for sure and once or twice maybe (could have been my imagination). It's pretty cool! But very hard to photograph.

  1. I've seen people get a green flush at supper from my exwife's cooking.

  2. no but i'd like to....

when i saw pirates of the caribean i thought it was just something made up for the story and then i looked it up and found out it's actually based on fact.... so now of course i wanna see one with my own eyes to see if it really is real.

  3. Yes, I'm happy to say, I have seen the green flash. Finally last year, after decades of trying, while sailing my boat to Santa Catalina Island I saw it. I was sailing on the seaward side of the island, and my sighting came as I had almost reached the entrance to Catalina Harbor, on six-foot swell. My boat is small and in swell like that I lose sight of the horizon at the bottom, but as I came up on a crest I saw it. It looked like an intense emerald green. Like a laser beam is how I remember it - quite bright and a tiny spot on the horizon. What a thrill!

  4. No but I'd love to too.

Apparently it's really cool to watch it projected in the National Solar Observatory at Kitt Peak (AZ).

For those people who dont know what the Green Flash is - the mintaka URL is great - but here's another that has a really useful diagram to explain it:

I tried for many year where I grew up (San Diego) but I was never able to.

  6. Yes, I've seen it several times over the years, usually over a distant land horizon. Any time I see the Sun setting over a distant horizon, I look for the green flash.
