Have you ever won ANYTHING with contests, lotteries, OR is this all a scam?

Question

There is always a contest on a can, box of food, on a billboard, magazine, newpaper and lottery games. I am seriously curious about this. Have you had any success with this?

I have won a Seventeen Magazine monthly freebie before, but that's it.

About 15 years ago I won $1,000 from Publishers Clearing House. I had filled out the form and sent it in, but had not even ordered anything from them.  I had to sign the prize notification and have a friend at work notarize it, but I did receive the $1,000 check, and it did clear the bank. My friends and co-workers were shocked. The next year when they sent out the contest literature I did order a one year subscription to some business or news magazine, but I never won again.

I won a palm pilot a long time ago from the drawing they had at the college I was attending! It was pretty nice! :-)

Some people happen to win lottery prizes, but the odds are so....

If you look at the odds, it's really not worth wasting your time. I know you've heard this a million times, but it's true for large contest odds: you've a better chance being struck by lightening...

i have a freind who entered for a 56 pink(elvis) cadillac in cherry condition..this was at the old warehouse in lakewood ca and he entered like 5 tmes the same day over and over and he won the car!!! I couldnt belive it and he still has it too this day! He was and still is a big elvis presly fan and so am i so whn he won this car it was crazy....bmabey not a million bucks but dam some people do win!

I won a pair of Clay Aiken tickets one time by calling into a radio station and being the ninth caller. :) I didn't want to go, though, so I gave them to my cousin.
