If so, could you describe the highlights (and lowlights) of your job?

What was the daily routine like?

Was it a small place?

Did you know/work with the owner?

Have you ever spit in the food?

Why?

Did you like your boss?

Did you like your job?

Did you ever get tipped really badly, or have someone leave you useless advice like: "Here's a tip: a fool and his money shall part!"?

  1. I worked in a restaurant for 5 years.  There are still many aspects I miss.  None of my other jobs had such a tight knit feeling.  We were all family amongst the staff.  Even the managers were were close with us for the most part.  It was a corporate owned restaurant, so we didn't know the owners.  Customers are mostly a lot of fun, but there will always be a******s and people that think a 10% tip is acceptable.  Bad tips happen, but so do really great tips.  I only saw one employee spit in food the entire time I worked there, and it was because the customer had harrassed the servers girlfriend and jumped him in the parking lot during a previous visit, so he was really asking for it by coming back and sitting in his section.  Most of my boss' were great, with the exception of one that was caught stealing money, but that was taken care of.

  4. waitress in several different places, highlights were meeting nice customers and working with nice coworkers, lowlights were lousy tippers, customers who made huge unnecessary messes and bosses that were a holes,  the daily routine depended on which shift i worked, but it pretty much involved, waiting on customers, bussing tables, light cleaning, coffee making, running cash register, i worked in a really small family owned diner once, and the biggest place i worked was howard johnsons, i knew the owners of the small place, they were harder to work for than a big corporation because it was their own place, they were tighter and stricter than any boss i ever had, i never spit in the food but i did work at a convenience store for a few years and  my boss had this big fat concieted ***** of a daughter that ate like a hog, she yelled at me one night because her steak sub was taking too long, i was in the process of getting my nightly cleaning done at the same time and the small freezer we had outfront was pulled out so i could sweep under it and she made me so mad i picked up this big old dead spider and put it in her steak sub, i did get the enjoyment of watching her eat it, she sat in one of our booths instead of taking it to go, i liked most of my bosses and always enjoyed my job, i have been tipped very well and very badly, it depends on the customer, mostly their age, but also their personalities, and yes, in place of money i have recieved a lot of useless junk in place of a tip, condoms, motel keys, coupons, any junk they had in their pockets that they thought would be funnier than actually paying me a tip..............its very hard work, but if you like meeting new people it can also be very rewarding, you will never get rich doing it either.............good luck

  5. I do work as a waitress, at the same place for 20 years!  I do know my boss, and I get along with him well. His daughter is the manager, and she is one of my best friends.

I work in a restaurant. It used to be a diner, but they've added a dining room, a banquet room, and a bar.

I've never spit in anyone's food.

I do like my boss and my job. It's local and people know everybody else.

I've had bad tips, but mainly I have good ones. There are some people that just aren't good tippers. And some don't tip at all. Mainly senior citizens and teenagers.

My daily routine is about the same as everyday. I do get bored with it, but I think everybody gets bored with their jobs every now and then.

The only tip I got was "don't cross a busy street", since we are on a local highway.

  6. Hated it. Long hours on my feet. Rushing around and being nice to mean people. Medium place busy in summer. Knew the owners they were there all the time watching and harassing us. Never spit on the food wouldn't want anyone to do that to me. Didn't like the boss. One used to sexually harass me. Yes got very bad tips...used to bar tend too. Crappy jobs serving the public.

  7. Yes.

It was similar to the movie "Waiting" but not really.

It was a big place & kind of like a reality show.

Yes, you got to know the owner.

    Never spit in the food.

Because Karma will spit back @ you.

Loved the boss, got to be in w/ the boss.

The job was perfect @ the time & lead me to being the Event Coordinator & make sick money on planning parties.

Never had too bad of a tip.  Once again Karma.  I tip large.

  8. no i have not, and i don't think i will ever be, cause people sometime are not so nice, especially when they think those who work as waiters are not normal people.  beside that, i am a qualified firefighter.

  9. Well, it was a really cute restaurant, and the job was tiring cause there was always something to do and the place wasnt small, but i really had a great time. I met people and had fun with my co workers and customers. And the tips were really really good! i regret not working there anymore...
