  1. Yeah,...I'm using it right now! ;)

Mind you ,..it's not that bad,..but cause it's a basic Emachine Desktop with 120GB hardrive ;)!,...and it's been going for nearly three years with all the programmes I've added to it over the years,..I'm surprised it still work's!

I added a External with 320 GB and this has taken some of the strain off my main system,..but it's not perfect,..as it does start up slowly.

It's fine though when I'm on the web,..or offline looking at my files and projects,..

but I'm gonna get a new one soon with 1TB hardrive,4GB RAM a Quad Core Processor and Vista on it,..so it's not that long! ;)

I'll kinda miss this one that i have as it's seen me through allot and it's still working,...just! ;)

  2. DIDN'T FALL ASLEEP I LEFT THE COMPUTER FOR HOURS BEFORE I CAME BACK

  3. Yes, unfortunately. :-(

  4. Yeah, I have a Q6600 desktop and a Eee 900 laptop. There is a pretty big difference between them, and sometimes it's really annoying. Although, working exclusively on a slow computer can make everything seem faster, which means you don't spend extra on new hardware. I mean, the people dealt with it last year, so why can't I?

  5. We all have had slow computers. To get the best out of whatever you have, you should do these things.

First, scan for viruses and spies and get rid of them.  Next, remove unneeded background programs.  Go to the Startup folder in Programs and delete all items you see unless one of them is your anti-virus or something.  Then go to Start -- Run and type msconfig.  Click the Startup tab and uncheck all the things you see that you don't need every second your computer is running.  If you see things that you don't know what they do, uncheck them and restart the computer.  If all works OK, then you didn't need them.  Only leave spy, virus, video type programs.  Everything else you can do without.

Finally, get a program like CCleaner or EasyCleaner and purge all files and registry items they find.

By doing all of this, your system will definitely be faster.  If it's still not fast enough, then there's little else besides adding more memory that can be done.

    Good Luck.

  6. I got my first computer in like 86. It was a Tandy running DOS. Be thankful for what you have.
