No Way Out

Have you heard it said

that when you are lost

within that deep dark hole

there's a ladder provided

to offer desired escape?

You must welcome a ray of light

to join you as company

to discover its presence there.

But every rung of ladder with me

is too rotted to bear my weight.

  1. Those last two lines are seriously awesome.

The first stanza is fine. My issue is with the first three lines of the second stanza. The wording is such that, even out loud, it sounds like you are talking about discovering the ray of light. I don't know. The wording is just a little awkward.

Edit: Wait a minute, is this an actual message? Eh. That's kind of irritating.

  2. YOU have many who would offer you their hands and their backs.

I am so proud of how you have learned so swiftly. It was there all the time, wasn't it?

  3. the ladder they throw with their light

    doesnt mean fast,

take the first deal, give up the fight

sometimes the hole is put there you know

    just slide right in

make you a deal so you think you win

just think from the hole, not within.

scratch up the sides refill the floor,

come out on top, be wary of more.

  4. Again you have struck a chord deep in my soul, and again my heart goes out to you.  I can relate so well to these words.  I offer you my hand, in order to pull you out.

  5. Never look down, ma.

Look all around and see your friends are there to lighten the load.

  6. Been there,I ran around the hole, around and around and around again. Then around again.Till I tired myself out.I was exhausted. Then realized all the energy I had wasted. There are so many people willing to throw you a rope, how lucky are you.New day, new beginning, new friends, who knows what is around the next corner. There is always a way out.Someday you will look back at this time and wonder why you wasted your energy on the bad stuff.

  7. Ma, i was just going to bed then.....

  8. I was in a deep dark hole once

drank myself thirsty, called out for more

    for help from inside

    heard footsteps approaching

    nice light-footed ones

a lady? come to rescue little lo' me!

Threw down a rope - I grabbed hold

pulled that sweet thing right on in

    she was loaded!

Stayed there for nine good years

until one day the spring was gone

    bitter drink - bitterness ensued...

    Then more footsteps

    heavy this time

    down dropped a long ladder

another climbed in and what a pleasant sight!

more good times ahead for all

disappeared along with the way out.

    Finally a million-year sleep

    after wrestling with words

no more warmth or comfort there

leaned abit and the bottle tipped over

    crawled right out, and stretched

    and yawned...

  9. F*ck that ladder.

    Get on our backs.

  10. buk is right ma.  lean on us.  enough of us have leaned on you.

to answer your question, yes i very recently felt like that.  i was about to do something very stupid, but was saved by a person who doesn't know he saved me.  i still feel that my future looks bleak at times, but i'm determined to get through it now.

  11. All of us have dug holes for our selves

one spoonful at a time, at times

    but while we're down here

    in the dusty dark

    take out your spoon and

dig a tunnel to left and visit me

Marvin my pet mole know the

    way up to the top.

  12. Favorite quote of the year (I can not remember where I heard it.)

"The first step to getting out of a hole is to stop digging."

    It sounds like Bob Costas.

  13. Yep .. I've felt that ... no way out.

  14.   Wow Ma this is really a wonderful and great and it took my breath away with it's beauty and soul.It opened my eyes as i have been stuck in a hole for sometime' but reading this gave me hope and i need to get my ladder and climb out of the hole too...I always bare all the weight on my shoulders so my son doesn't have to' and smile and hug him like everything is A ok as kids have enough on their tiny shoulders..Thanks for sharing.

  15. there is always a way out even when the rung of the ladder is rotten. you still have the pole to use to shimmy out

  16. Yes and only by drawing closer to the light shall you be able to rise each rung, one at a time. LOL

  17. Feel around for the end of the rope, we're all here pulling you up!  I'm sure we don't need to, however.  with your strength you can pole vault out of any hole with a pen!

  18. I have been in the deepest of wells surrounded by walls of my on making, with water rising. I could see the light but I saw no way to reach it... and then I saw it, the rope, it was there in front of me though I did not know who tossed it down; but that doesn't really matter does it... when you are seeking a way out. As I climbed out I saw no one and when I looked back the rope was gone; then I realized what I should have known all along, there is always a way out, one only needs to look inside for the message that some might call the answer to a prayer.

  19. :) I smile at this poem for what once was the case but is no longer.
