Have you exchanged a California drivers license for an Ontario license? Of course this would only apply for someone who has moved from Calif. to Ontario. I've browsed their whole website and even called them but I've only gotten robotic uncertain answers. The reason I ask is because the Calif. DL does not clearly mention the issue date ... it only mentions the issue date without saying what that date is for. I guess not many smart ppl work at the California DMV. And the significance of the issue date is that Ontario grants a full license only if you have a valid U.S. license plus 2 years of experience clearly established either by (1) clear issue date (which is not the case on the Calif. DL) or (2) Driving record (which the incompetent people at Calif. DMV have been unable to send to me).

Thanks!

  1. Have you been insured in California ?

Ask your car insurance company to provide a letter of your driver history with them. I bet that the insurance company knows when your California  D. L.  was first issued.  ( Grin )

  2. no i have not. maybe you should go to the California DMV instead of just calling. When you get the information you need you might just want to go to Ontario or call a friend/relative that lives there (if you have any in Ontario.)
