Question:

Have you experienced grocery clerks "accidentally" charging you more recently? ?

Seems the past couple of months if I go to a store to buy groceries and I'm getting more than a dozen items, then I get overcharged. Usually it is one or more items which they have scanned twice instead of the once they are supposed to do. This has been happening too frequently for me to think it is a coincidence anymore. It's almost like the clerks are being told to do this in an effort to generate more income. Yeah, it sounds like a weird conspiracy theory, but I've worked at grocery stores before and it doesn't seem totally implausible to me. Just wondering if anyone else has been experiencing this type of thing recently, too.

  1. I wouldn't be surprised if you're correct.

It's just like the gas stations doing the price gouging and I've even heard that you shouldn't pay for gas with your credit card anymore because they are overcharging when you do.  You would do well to pay in cash.

Everyone is doing what they have to do to survive.

  2. they do the two for a discount then you have to remind them- really annoying

  3. This is what my store used to do. When we're in the negative, charge other customers until we 0 out. They're probably doing that.

  4. This has been going on for years. I didn't know that it would spread at reputable stores and supermarkets. Usually it was just corner stores in the inner city and gas stations. Also the amounts are getting larger. It was just the change would get miscounted or may 1 or 2 dollars. But now its getting bigger and bigger.

  5. Yes-i have frequently-also charged full price for discounted goods. I have also been given change for $10 when i have given $20. I have never been in the habit of checking my change and sometimes wonder how much i have allowed myself to be rorted.

  6. Weird that happened to me the other day at staples. We were out buying ink cartridges for our printer at staples and for some reason the total came out to over 400 dollars!

We only got three cartridges and each cartridge was only about 60 dollars. Thank goodness my sister checked the receipt, or else my mother would have totally paid for two extra ink cartridges that we didn't even have!

And the clerk was totally blase about it like we didn't almost pay an extra 120 dollars because of her mistake. In fact she almost seemed disapointed...

So I guess to answer your question it doesn't really sound like that much of a conspiracy theory.

  7. no its the computer glitching they havent been updated

  8. it happens to me at walmart ALL THE TIME. the clerks are like zombies. retarded zombies~!~

    lmao

  9. You have to watch them like a hawk. They do that, not all, but some, so you need to be vigilant. In  my market almost all of the cashiers are nice except one who is an absolute b*tch. I NEVER go in her line, cannot stand her.

  10. they do that all the time at longs gosh or when something is supposed to be on sale they don't give me the sale price T_T
