Have you followed the tragedy in Madrid today, I51 dead? Will it turn out to be human error? ?

I landed in Barajas minutes after the crash. We had a strange landing and then the pilot annnounced that there had been an "incident" and we were kept on the plane for a further half an hour. We saw dozens and dozens of emergency vehicles racing across the runways.

Inside the airport there was chaos with the baggage and the atmosphere was awful as we kept hearing how the death toll was rising and rising.

Apparently they were kept on the plane after one aborted take off when "alarm bells " rang and they were informed that they might have to change planes. They didn´t.

I´m still shaking now.

R.I.P. all the poor victims .

Any of you who still believe in God please pray for the seriously injured survivors. Two babies and three children included.

I think it brings home how short life is and how precious it is. What I find the cruelest is that there was a fault but for whatever reason the Pilot decided to go ahead...Tragic..:(

It just makes you realise doesn't it? That life should be sacred and it is very precious. It is far too short to do what some of us do across the globe ie terrorism and war. It could be blotted out any minute and then was it worth it? It is such a shame but I believe there is something after death. We're all human, on the same footpath except some reach that quicker than others.

I have been following it with a very heavy heart today, it is such a terrible tragedy. From what I have heard there were problems with the plane before take off. They should have changed planes. I'm glad to hear that children are among the survivors, I just wish there were more. My thoughts are with the families of those who didn't make it and for those who are badly injured. I hope you are okay.

I am so glad that you are ok, I would be completely wasted right now if that were me.  I have not heard any rumors yet as to what caused it and yes it is a miracle that anyone survived.

its shocking isnt it. on the news they said that the exact same plane went to take off earlier and they had to turn around as there was a technical fault, but then that plane took off and crashed-someone has ALOT of explaining to do

I suspect that it probably was - tragedies that are avoidable are always even worse than accidents. You must have been terrified hun!

It seems that the plane was completely burnt out and most of the dead were incinerated. .I did see a picture of this plane taking off with black smoke pouring out of the left engine. Very sad but fortunately a rare event these days

How can you ask me to believe in a God when a rapist wins the lottery? There is no God it is all chance and chaos theory. The only definite is that for anyone living right now they are presently at the end of a very long lucky ancestral line of survival whose successful breading dates back to the dawn of man. Enjoy it.

It is terrible I agree but nobody know the cause of the crash yet everything is speculation it will be a while yet before they find out the cause they will have to examine the wreckage plus the flight recorders and the air traffic tapes then we will find out what caused it

I don't do God but my thoughts are with the families of those affected..I think you will be hugging your little one extra tight tonight, and that is the only way we can honour those that have perished so dreadfully.

Hold those dear to you closer still and appreciate what we have whilst we have it.

Always sad to hear of death.But at a velocity like this it makes it  all the more sad.So many people,so many families to grieve.
