  1. Hiya, i havent had a water birth but i did want one until i found out that at our hospital you have to be naked bottom down... i would rather not lol.

When i was in labour, i had a nightgown on so at least it covered me and i was on all fours and there was only the midwife that was there for the labour... with a water birth you have to have the doctor and a midwife and everyone else there.

You sometimes have to have lots of people in the room anyway regardless if you are in water or not if there are any complications in the labour.

  2. i read what the other lady said about being naked bottom down in a pool, yes but only midwife and yr partner would be with u and if ur in the water what are they going to see that they are not going to see in delivery or have seen before? my friends daughter had a water birth earlier this year and found it very comfortable and relaxing. she had no problems and no stitches. the only problem is that with the nhs they usually only have one pool and its first come first served so if someones in it when u r in labour and they are there first it wont be an option anyway but find out about it and consider where it is something u would like to do. good luck.

  3. i had a water birth and im so glad i did!how it came about was, when my contractions were bad the midwife run me a bath to ease the pain which really helped, after i came out of bath i was fully dilated and rushed to delivery suite. i hadnt planned a water birth but inbetween a contraction the midwife came and told me the birthing pool was free and if i would like to use it as the bath before had really helped the pain. I was only using gas and air before but when i got in the pool i needed nothing, it really eased the pain and the atmosphere was so relaxing...inbetween contractions i was lying with my eyes shut with my partner holding my upper body up just floating in the pool, it was great!also i didnt tear or anything, just a slight graze so i was in no pain after, the water must help with that sort of thing!although it wasnt planned (a water birth was the last thing i expected) i will definately have one next time!

  4. i heard water birth can actually ease pain, and make you feel more relaxed. i never considered this, as i dont believe i could feel comfortable in the water for many hours. if there's any consolation, there's strong belief that multiple birth is much less painful, as babies are smaller.

good luck and all the best

how else did you want to give birth mummy to a prince, in your trousers:) ?

  5. I had a water birth with my 2nd baby. It was an awesome experience. I didn't have any pain medication and labor went very quickly. I felt much better afterward with the water birth compared to the epidural I had with my 1st baby. Also, I didn't tear or anything. The water really helps with that. I would recommend it. My husband and I want to try for another baby and I have already told him that I want to have another water birth. Good luck!

  6. I wouldn't know from personal experience, but just google it or if you get the TLC channel or Discovery Health, you should watch House of Babies, they have a lot of water births on the show. :)
