Have you had an ECT done?

If so how was the results for you? Did you have memory loss? Did you have any complications from it? Tell me about your experience and how you feel now.

No I haven't had ECT but I have friends who have and have never been the same since. You do loose your memory and its like the original you has left the building.   You're never the same.  It's extreme control. It's not necessary to have this treatment don't.  People come out of this treatment like vegetables.  It's like people become docile.  This treatment is the way the psychiatric community controls you to be in the "normal" society... make you fit in. It doesn't help with depression.

I have not, but my friend had 3 treatments and she said she would never have one again.

Also you may want to go to the online communities at http://www.nami.org and ask this question under bipolar disorder.  There are some people on there who have had ECT.

It's great for treatment resistant depression.  There is memory loss.

I had ECT done several years ago. You don't feel a thing because they put you to sleep. You do have some short term memory loss, but that passes. It didn't help me right away. But I would say in the long run it did its job.I still have to take anti depressants though. But now they work.

I have had 25 sessions and it did not work at all. It was a big waste of time and cost a fortune. I had some memory lost from the 6 month period that I was doing it but it wasn't nearly as bad as people say. If they give you versed for anesthetic it is a little worse on your memory. One day I remember coming home and I couldn't remember my dog's name, but my memory came back after a few hours. It also causes headaches and the scumbag doctor wouldn't give me any vicodin because I am a dope fiend. I also chipped one of my teeth doing it.
