My doctor's office is opening in a few hours, and I will call to make an appointment as I am becoming a little concerned re: pre-eclampsia since waking up this morning.

If you have been diagnosed in the past, would you please describe your symptoms, first warning signs, suggestions on what I can check at home, etc.?

  2. My sister was diagnosed with this a week after delivering her first child, its most common with your first.  She was very dizzy, had a headache, and when the at home nurse came to check on her, they checked her into the hospital, they told her if she had stayed home for another hour without going to the dr, she would have had a stroke and died.

High blood pressure is a silent killer. Oftentimes, women diagnosed with preeclampsia do not feel sick. Many signs and symptoms of preeclampsia mirror other "normal" effects of pregnancy on your body. Women diagnosed with preeclampsia may feel frustrated when prescribed bedrest because they feel fine. If you feel fine, it may be hard for you or your partner to appreciate that preeclampsia is a serious condition.

  3. I started developing it in the end of my 2nd pregnancy with twins. B/P was a LOT higher then normal (I checked it at home and the stores that BP machines regularly to keep an eye on it). Occasional dizziness or "seeing stars". Swelling in the feet or other areas is a common sign...my feet were really swollen.
