Have you had to relocate to another state after you were married?

I had to leave my beautiful beach house in Cali, and move to the state of Michigan. I'm still having a hard time making the adjustment. But I still visit Cali as often as possible and enjoy my beach house. My hubby says that I will never really adjust if I continue to travel so often.

What are your opinions on this. And thanks for all your answers.

Plus my son still lives in Cali with his dad which is my ex husband.

He doesn't like Michigan either so it works out for all of us.

  1. What is not to like about Michigan? You have the Red Wings, Lions,Tigers and Pistons. You have beautiful lakes. Try to make make the most of it. I do not blame you either. I grew up in Michigan and then moved to Florida and I do not think I could ever move back to Michigan.

  2. Nope.  I moved after the divorce.  Just needed breathing room and new scenery.

  3. I lived in Southern California and my dad was from Detroit.  If I had a beach house my second husband would have moved in with me!  But I had a condo in the suburbs and when I married my second husband I moved to Central California.  All of my friends and family has moved to other states or countries, so I don't get back there often.  But  a couple of weeks ago I did and it was really nice to be where I grew up again.  My son moved his family to Colorado, but is moving to an Asian country in two weeks.  I don't think I can afford to visit there as often as Colorado.

  4. Yes it sure looks that way for me Jai, but unlike you I'm really looking

forward to the move. Don't worry we will still see each other as often as we can.

  5. All things considered, I think you are doing about as well as can be expected of anyone Ms Jai.  It takes at least a year and probably closer to two years to adjust to a new place.  You are fortunate in that have have the ability to travel back and forth when you have the urge, plus it's good for your son to have regular visits from you.

I think you are doing well, just be patient, the adjustment won't happen overnight, everything is still very new for you.  Hang in there, my friend!
