  1. a couple months ago global tv did a segment on bottles with Recycle #7 on the bottem, they said they found cancer causing agents in it and that you should throw away any plastics that you use for consumption.  7 eleven specialty cups, wal mart, zellers, safeway and may other stores sell these bottles.  they are usually the jewel colored plastics but not always.  the pink ribbon water bottles for walk for cancer have a #7 on them also.  I just threw all mine away or use them as holders

  2. The number 7 just means "other". Nylon is in this category. There are a few uses for "other" plastics when they are recycled. Plastic lumber is one.

It is possible that #7 plastic contains something dangerous but the chances are against it. Just don't recycle your #7 plastic into teething rings.

  3. Do you mean these symbols...

Because if 7 is on a bottle, then it's definitely wrong. Bottles are generally 1(PET).

P.S. Those aren't actually recycling symbols if they have a number in the middle, they're just there to tell the type of plastic. An actual recycling symbol has no number in the middle.

    :)
