Instead of moaning about we don't have, thought we could appreciate this little lady's spunk !

  1. Just read about her.  I'm such a cynical person, but I felt pleases to hear her story.  Unfortunately I couldn't find a lot of info on her after that.  Glad to see someone else actually cared also.

  2. Is that the one who walks with a limp?

  3. Yes. I read about it on the Yahoo main page and searched for days to find video of that race. I'm really unhappy with the NBC coverage. You could barely catch your particular sports without waiting around the tube all day. And even then you weren't guarded against NBC choosing on the fly to show another sport.

  4. US and China and other super power countries, they went to the Olympics to win and be the best. Samia went there for a different reason, she just want her country to be recognized, to be raised and waved among all the other countries.  A simple message saying, "Do not forget us we are still here". A true champion, of a higher level than just winning gold, She won my heart.

  5. Heartwarming and touching story about this girl. One of the true heroes of the Olympics.

  6. yes shes an inspiration- and it just shows that not all muslim women are oppreesed covered up in burkahs and forced into marriage- we do have our own minds and are strong determined and not all ruled by men

  7. Samiar Yusuf Omar. Big cheers to her!

    Thanks for posting this Q.

She went to 2008 Beijing Olympics to compete. Experienced everything and visited/ tour Beijing probably, (I haven't been there). Achievements. Well done.

No matter what .....  she's a winner too!

  8. Ahh

  9. I agree. She is quite an inspiration! I'm so proud of her for finishing despite knowing that she would most likely be last. To get out there and represent her country, and do the best that she could despite what she has to go back home to makes my heart cry for her. But I am happy for her spirit.
