  1. Yes, I did, and three of them needed more air.  And the gas does go farther.

BO doesn't claim that tire inflation replaces all the new oil to be found, he says we'll get better mileage if our tires aren't half flat.  And he's right.

  2. Considering the vast majority of us drive on underinflated tires, it is not a bad political statement.  If everybody drove at the reccomended pressures, oil savings could be as much as 10 Percent.  Think of moving a wheel barrow, its a lot harder when the d**n tire is flat.

Now when it comes to oil, you do realize all of the easy oil spots are drilled already?  There is a little thing called resource management, if we clear cutted all of our forests in the 1900's there would be nothing left.  It is interesting to look at the maps of our forests as they were cut.  Because of conservation we are able to save 2nd growth forests and maintain our own lumber operations.

Oil is a different matter, it takes years and years for a well to come online.  It is illogical to use up our nations reserves at the moment.  In fact,  did you know that oil companies are actually incapable of tapping into those deposits.  Offshore drilling is a very expensive in terms of equipment.  The oil rigs alone are in scarce supply.  They cost billions of dollars and the ones we need have not been built in sufficient numbers for the deep sea drilling.

Let us not forget the environmental impact of drilling and its destructive consequences.  Did you know the entrance to the mississipi river was shut off because of an oil spill.  For almost 5 days ship traffic came to a virtual halt.   Oil in offshore drilling and transportation  has a terrible impact on both commercial and tourism industries.  Imagine if a oil spill fell on the beaches of Florida.  The destruction would cost billions of tourism dollars.

Instead of persuing fossil fuel technologies with asinine subsidies, consider diversifying investment into new technologies.  Hydrogen fuel is a proven technology and only needs investment to bring it online and economically viable.  Our current energy policies are screwed up.  We are giving nuclear energy a 125 billion dollar subsidy.  Nuclear energy is proven to be inefficient in meeting energy demands.  The waste is impossible to dispose of, and the government's plans to just store it in mountains is actually more expensive than going with renewable energy designs.  Waste needs to be trucked, and properly handled with 0 foul ups.

Instead of persuing a declining resource that has already past peak production, lets move beyond the proverbial timber of today and persue the new fuel of tomorrow.

  3. -Better than THAT; -I got RID of my Car !!! Now I'm saving a FORTUNE on Gas & Auto expenses, & I can AFFORD to hold on to my House! :)

  4. Yes. Lets check our vehicle(s) if the condition is road worthy. Or else, you might end spending additional gas given the same distance travelled.
