Hello, my husband has been thinking about moving to Italy within the next 5-6 years. I have been doing some research but have not found the answers I am looking for. Perhaps you have some suggestions or experiences living in Italy. I would like to know the cost of living expenses, wages, schools, etc. I am curious if it's really as great as he is making it sound :P It's a huge jump and I don't know if it's a risk I would take. Thanks!

  1. Might get better answers if you ask in the Italy link.

I'm sure it would be a great experience.

  2. please try and ask this question in the Italian section.

Im sure that you will get more detailed answers.

  3. Italy has a lot of problems, especially now that they have changed to the euro. Prices doubled overnight and they have stayed the same. The cost of living here is ridiculous. Taxes are high and public services are terrible. Wages are even worse. A "good" salary is around 1500€ a month! For women around 800€ a month! And like I said the cost of living is much higher than what you can pay with your salary. Schools aren't very good either and university takes way to long and doesn't prepare you for life. Sorry if I sound negative. I am American and have been living here for 5 years now. Italy is a beautiful country and the food is good and healthy but right now that's about the only positive things it has. Oh I forgot, opportunity to move ahead in life here is zero. If you've got a lot of money Italy is a great place to live but if your a "normal" person like the rest of us, it will suck to live here.

  4. why dont you try a vacation there first. Im sure he'll change his mind
