  1. Here's what I personally do:  use all CFLs, recycle, compost, take public transportation when I can, use canvas bags (no plastic), use green household cleaners, offset my travel, buy renewable energy, and lots more!


  2. I run 20 triaxle dump truck hauling asphalt to two 50,000 lbs asphalt pavers (CAT 1055-D's if you want to know).  All told I use approximately 1200 gallons of fuel in just that aspect of my business per day.  I also burn 2.45 gallons of waste oil per ton of asphalt I produce.

  3. (1) All lights are CFL, (2) All metals, pastics, card & paper are recycled and all food is composted, (3) Solar water heating system installed to give 60% + of domestic hot water, (4) Journeys of less than 1 mile I walk - 2 miles to 5 miles I cycle - then I might think about using the car, (5) House temperature is 66 degrees and heating is on only in occupied rooms.

  6. I have switched to CF lamps for anything I use for more than a few minutes at a time.  I switched the 40 W incandescent porch lamp used by my condo assn to a 3 W CF.

    I bought the most economical car I could find that would carry me and my stuff.

    I turn my heat down during the day, turn my water heater down to the lowest temperature I can use, and use a low-flow shower head.

  7. 1 changing regular bulbs to CFLs as they burn out

    2 use cold water TIDE when doing my laundry saves on hot water

    3 have a drying line in my furnace room to dry heavIEr clothes ie jeans towels sweat shirts track pants you get the idea

    4 doing dishes in the sink instead of dishwasher

    5 hand shovel my driveway of snow instead of the snow blower

    6 use push mower instead of gas mower

    these are all energy saving things I do to save on gas or electricity and when I save I have extra money and its a cheap form of exercise
