Have you made brownies with applesauce instead?

I wanted to make brownies tonight, but we have no eggs. So, I heard you could use applesauce instead. I just put them in the oven, using applesauce. So, while they are baking I thought I would ask a question. ha.

Have you made brownies using applesauce instead of eggs?

Are the brownies better with applesauce, or with eggs?

And, just to ask: Are you supposed to use the unsweetened applesauce, or does it not matter what kind you use? I used the unsweetened.

  2. Ive tried them and they not as good as regular brownies but they dont taste too bad.

Yes I have, I am not sure if I substituted the applesauce for eggs, I think it was for some of the sugar, but they still turned out really good, the recipe also called for espresso powder in order to make it more rich, they were actually really good and the boyfriend didn't even know the difference the only thing that I would say that was really different was they were kind of gooey, a little bit different texture than a traditional cake like brownie, but they were good and only 3 grams of fat per serving.   4. it should be ok, usually you sub applesauce for oil, but it should turn out fine. good luck
