  1. Yes, I was very, very lucky. I started investing the max in my retirement fund when I was in my early 20's, all in company stock. I knew nothing about proper investing principles. I kept adding around 10% of my gross salary but other than that I left it alone for 27 years. I had enough to retire in my 40's, very well off. But that was very risky and now I have a diversified portfolio.

  2. Yes, a few hours ago, also lost some. Sold £10 a point the Dow Cash future short at 12220 closed it at 12195, made £250, clever! Then sold again at 12236 and closed at 12297 lost £610, not so clever. I know these are not stocks but they are made up of stocks.

  3. Saved my military bonus until I got some great advise from a high ranking government official. Then I invested the whole thing in a little company that would become known as, AOL. Then as soon as they got hooked up with that socialist cesspool of Ted Turner's, I sold the lot.

  4. Yes, mainly by Dollar Cost Averaging (DCA) in to mutual funds over the long term.

  7. Yes, I have made money from stocks, and have been doing so since I was 12 years old.

One of the first thing that I had to learn was the four main principles of investing/trading

1 - A written sound trading/investment plan with rules that will not only help you but more importantly protect you, mostly from yourself.

2 - Sufficient trading/investment capital.  Use your own money, there’s no need to go into debt so that you trade/invest.

3 - A written money management program in place. .

4 – A full and complete understanding of the rules & regulations of the industry.
