Me and my grandma went out to eat, and the waiter was impatient with our order. She didn't smile or at least act happy and rolled her eye after we made our order! well my grandma said she was a B***** and left her a pennie for a tip!

(Do you think the waiter deserved that?)

  1. h**l yea she deserved it......your grandma is a gangster!!!

  2. I think she absolutely deserved that. Tipping is for the wait staff who go above and beyond they "job" they get paid for by the restaurant. They get paid to bring your drink, take your order, and bring your food. You tip them for the quality of service they provide. Being attentive, polite, personable, and exceeding your expectations.

  3. No. If the service is really bad, I leave a penny like your Grandma does and then make sure I never get that waiter/waitress again.

  4. Well, if she was rude and didn't serve you well, why should you "show your appreciation" by leaving a nice tip.

She didn't earn it, and she definitely did not deserve it.

She didn't even deserve the penny, imho.

But yeah, she deserved what she got. Who does she think she is?

  5. gramm did great. if she left nothing, the waitress would have thought she was cheap. but, the penny delivers a message. and it appears it is a message the waitress needs to receive.

  6. Go GRANDMA!!

Being a waiter/waitress is your JOB, customers are there for fun and food and an experience of being "waited on-hand and foot"

If I go to a restaurant and they act like that, I would have left them $0.00, but the $0.01 may have said "stop acting like a jerk and DO YOUR JOB, you are an ADULT and CHOSE this line of work and knew what the job required and this is what I feel you are worth to me at this moment."

Grandma DID tip her just what she was worth!!

  7. I have had two episodes where I stiffed a server.

The first was at a local (non-chain italian place) where I ordered the meat ravioli plate.  When the meal came, the server laid out a lasagna plate.  I hate lasagna.  It is a ricotta cheese thing.  I was polite and the server told me that I was wrong and ordered the lasagna.  I was calm and asked for the manager.  When the manager came over, I explained the sitch.  He had the ravioli over PDQ.  The server was very put out and was hateful.  NO TIP.

The other time was at a Red Lobster..I ordered a Diet Coke with my meal.  She brought me a regular Coke.  Yes, I can tell the diff..  When I told her that it was wrong, she became very hateful about it.  I stiffed her too.

I have worked for tips before and was very nice about it.

I always tip 15% for poor to good service and 25% for great service.
