Have you noticed a lot of musicians and artists keep putting rude, vulgar, nasty and negative messages on their songs?

What/why would you say is the reason they keep doing it? Only for money? Do they have bad taste? Do they have mental issues?

This happens specially in rap, and most of rock variants such as hard rock, heavy metal, punk, some ska, and more recently the infamous and bad-taste reggeaton.

They also make people disrespectful to others.

Some examples are: metallica, seven dust, marilyn manson, the now extinct blink 182, daddy yankee, some shakira songs (oral fixation), britney spears music videoclip"I'm a slave for you", buck cherry, rage against the machine, phil anselmo...

  1. Artists also experience negative situations, Its only natural, and part of life.

Singing about negativity is a way of expressing it for whatever their reasons.

The difference between people that have to, or choose to keep there opinions to themselves, is that artists don't have to.And in the process, offend people.

If you don't relay with the song, turn the dial

  2. I know exactly what you mean! My friend got me listening to Jewel, and she has some amazing songs, with positive messages, but you should check out "Pieces of you", and "Daddy". I know that she has been through alot in her life, so she may be trying to pull for sympathy, but my opinion is that other celebs do it to see how far they can push the society. People I know listen to music like that, just because theylike the beat, or the artist, honestly people don't seem to listen to lyrics, or care anymore!!!

  3. My favorite band is guilty of this as well, but it's more tongue-in-cheek, trying to make the words lose their meaning.

All I can say is if you don't like it don't listen.

  4. Music is an extension of who they are. It's their way of expressing themselves. So if they sing about something negative, it's most likely something that they have some negative times in their lives. Rude? Maybe it's their way of rebelling. s*x? That's how they think of it. Some may do it for the money but not all of them. Bad taste depends on who you ask. And mental issues? Not nessisarily.

Not everything can be candy coated and perfect. If you don't like it don't listen to it. Simple.

  5. I agree with your concern but in hip -hip, it is normally how the artist lived before he became well known. For example, Obie Trice has several song relating to his life in Detroit and not all of the messages expressed in those songs are positive.

As for Rage Against the Machine, can you explain the negative messages they used to have in their songs. They focused on politics, most of their songs in fact are about presidents, political parties, etc. Your a republican aren't you.

Blink 182 wrote songs about oral s*x, etc, because they didn't take themselves too seriously. I mean, what other band can you name sang songs about those types of things?
