that your baby (while teething), has a hard time napping as well as sleeping at night? My almost 5 mo. old has been a great sleeper and napper (though short naps, he would fall asleep on his own in his crib). Now he's suddenly screaming his lungs out every nap, and is waking up several times at night, and needs to be held to go back to sleep. This just started so I know its not a habit he's picked up...and sometimes he'll go down just fine, but later that day he would scream again for his next nap. Going crazy...any ideas? I'm not into letting him scream, but I do give him a minute or two before going in and picking him up.... he will not calm down until I pick him up. Teething could cause all this?

  1. yeah my baby is teething as well. try some orajel for his gums and alternate with a low low dose of baby motrin. that should help. if not, put some warm tea in his bottle. or put his pacifier in the fridge, the cold on it will soothe the gums too.

  2. i heard that the culprit is teething. unfortunately what u can do is limited. try giving teethers which r frozen or cooled in the fridge, gum soothing gels, or get a munchkin feeder. my baby is teething too and i put little crushed ice chips or frozen fruits for her to chew on. it should help a little. other than that, give lots n lots of cuddles. good luck.

  3. Oh, yes!

You've got a teether on your hands!

My husbands co-worker, whom used to be an RN for labor & delivery and is also a mother of 6 told us to dab your finger in whiskey and rub it on our babies gums when she begins to teethe. It's supposed to numb the gums and help him/her sleep better.

I haven't tried it because my daughter isn't teething just yet.

But, everyone that I've mentioned it too either have already done it, or have also heard the same thing.

Also, what you can do is dip his pacifier in some type of juice and freeze it for a bit, the coldness will be soothing to his little gums and he'll surely love the sweetness of the juice!

  4. My guess would be teething, my daughter started doing the same thing at 6 months old, and then last month (her 6th month) she popped out 3 teeth!!! I think the laying down hurts their ears or something.

Try some of those all natural teething tablets, a wet wash cloth and/or infant tylonel (only if he has a fever). The teething tablets are amazing!

    Good luck to you!
