Have you noticed some funny looking flies recently that look like turtle flies..where do they come from?

sorry I noticed them in london today...which country do they come from... they make a lot of noise around the light bulb.

I can only guess.  If they look like turtle flies perhaps they are beetles that have a hard outer shell with wings underneath.  There are some species of "june bugs" that come out in the spring that are attracted to lights and make a lot of noise.  But I know very little of England insects.

note the antenna on the right most beetle.  The males have very large antenna to sniff out the females.
