I've had that a couple times when I've told someone something about myself, then later that person says, "So, I heard that..." (whatever information it was that I told them).

Sometimes I feel like saying, "Oh you HEARD that? Yeah, from ME. What are you talking about?"

  1. I know you are familiar with Japanese.

They are tend to speak ambiguously.

They can hardly express their emotionai feelings for words to foreigners.

    Never mind.

  2. Being polite I guess. I heard you.....has an accusing sound or something. "I heard that" is more indirect...which gives room to you correcting yourself if you have said something you shouldn't have.

  3. I never noticed what you talk bout. If you feel upset to improper English use or negligent attitude, why don't you educate them directly and promptly on the situation? Your straight behavior might help them not to have future unnecessary and improper communication with foreigners incidentally.

Strange things will ever continue as you keep it going on.

  4. As a Japanese, I think they tryed to be polite and failed because of the less abilities of speaking English.

    They might want to say

"Regarding to something you mentioned, ..."

All Japanese learn English in junior high and high school, but It's only bigginer level lessons especialy SPEAKING.

I can understand why they said "I've heard that" because they are struggle to speak English with their hopeless poor vocablary and a slitely good grammer.

May be you also often hear "you said that..." don't you?

This sentence is felt something rude for Japanese in Japanese language, then they might say "I've heard that...(from you)".

Most Japanese are not good at English, but some are try to talk with Americans (or other peoples speaking English) in English.

Please make conversation with them (even me, myself) with friendly eys.

  5. What are YOU talking about ? Japanese have learned English as a second language. You can't expect it to be perfect. Please read YOUR own post.
