The Western Climate Initiative was launched in February 2007. The founding governors in Arizona, California, New Mexico, Oregon and Washington have since been joined by the governors of Utah and Montana, and by the Premiers of British Columbia, Manitoba, Quebec and Ontario. Other US and Mexican states and Canadian provinces have joined as observers. WCI is working to develop regional strategies to address climate change.

WCI participants have been striving to formulate a design for a market-based mechanism to help achieve the reduction goal. The partners developed a Workplan to guide their work and are seeking public input throughout the process. Have you participated yet? This is your chance!

  1. No, I haven't read it.  But seeing the Canadian involvement in it (BC even has it's own version of carbon-tax now and Ontario has an ultra-leftist provincial government as have Manitoba and Quebec.  Ontario's premier McGuinty has got to be the most dishonest and corrupt politician in Canadian history!!!) I can assume that it's got something to do with global warming and more tax grabs.

I'll eat my boots if they ever convince Alberta or Saskatchewan to join.

More organizing from the left, bent on controlling us into submission.

  2. hi amy :-)

oh dear, cap and trade. our lot seem to be going for that too, and we have no say at all. not anywhere near radical enough imo, just an excuse for the big companies to make money. until i get a tax rebate for my compost and tree planting i wont be convinced its fair, and the caps always seem to be far to liberal.

and when you cant slide a *** paper between the policies of our major political parties, that leaves us with nothing but letter writing as input. at least your lot seem to be paying some attention to the wishes of the people.

    edit; lol! a *cigarette* paper....
