Don’t Cry for the horses

That life has set free

A Million White horses

Forever to be.

Don’t cry for the horses

Now in God’s hands

As they dance and they prance

To a heavenly band

They were ours as a gift

But never to keep

As they close their eyes

Forever to sleep

Their spirits unbound

On silver wings they fly.

A million white horses against the blue sky.

Look up in the heavens you’ll see them above.

The horses we lost

The horses we loved.

Manes and tails flowing

They gallop through time

They never were yours

They were never mine

Don’t cry for the horses

They will be back someday

When our time has come

They will show us the way.

Do you hear that soft nicker close your ear?

Don’t cry for the horses

Love the ones that are here

  1. You most likely dont care, but this meant allot... My fave. mare at the barn foaled the other day he was a lovely paint with a perfect black star on his lovely white face, he was born dead. His mom had some issues about 2 weeks b-4 foaling and everyone thought she had lost the foal, but I kept up hope, and it all came crashing down after he was born, she coliced and then we could not get her up...and she was sooo skinny. Needless to say she recovered but will never be ridden again soon after her incidents she was rolling in the field when a gelding in the pasture with her kicked her in her back and she has a LOT of back problems...she is only 6 years old.

She is my baby, even though she lost her own.

  2. Wow... How sad. I almost cried.

  3. A beautiful poem. I had a horse, Sandy who had a 6 month old baby and she had colic really bad and she died. I was devastated, but I spent all my free time with the baby and we would lay out in the field with her head on my lap. I still love that baby and I terribly miss  Sandy. This poem was absolutely beautiful.

  4. Beautifuul poem. I've read it before but it always gets me teary eyed.

    How about this one:

    Somewhere in times own space

    There must be some

    Sweet pastured place

    Where creeks sing on

    And tall trees grow

    Some paradise where horses go,

For by the love that guides my pen

I know great horses live again.

  14. This is a very nice poem.

I lost a OTTB about two months ago.

He dropped over dead in the pasture.

I had seen him running about 20 miutes before that just fine.

They think he had a heart attack.

There is now another horse in my pasture and he fills the time and I love him and he is a great ride but I still miss my TB
