I am stuck. I no longer race. moto cross that is.....now i'm in the rat race but i still ride and i'm still an acceleration freak and still love big jumps. I stuck between two bikes. a yz 250 or the rmz450. all i need to know is which one is faster acceleration wise. which one would win the hole shot. I am right now a two stroke rider but that is only because 2 strokes truly were faster when i bought it. but now four strokes are making such progress and just this year they came within 9 pounds of the same class 2 stroke. which is faster. No matter how hard to ride or whatever, which one has the potential to be the fastest

should i buy the yz 250 or the rmz450? top speed....duh ....four stroke prolly take the prize on that for sure but which accelerates faster?

  1. yamaha yzf450 this bike is a beast! it will totally rock your socks off!

  2. The RM - Z 450 K8 will be the easier bike to ride fast.  Sure the 2 stroke has power but it's all top end horsepower, the 450 has a much more linear power band.  Much less maintenance too.  Unless you are a tester for Suzuki - nobody has ridden the nes FI bike,  I have ridden both bikes last year, but that's an entirely different kettle of fish.  Keep in mind almost all of the 450's are presold at the local dealer level.

  3. I would go with the 450. Most people worship 2 strokes but the truth is a 450 will blow a 250 outta the water if you know how to ride it. Go with the RMZ. Good bike good all around torque range too.

  4. What not a YZ250F?..... When it really comes down to it your the one that's going to make the final choice no matter what we say is the best(because that is our preference).

I have both 2 strokes and 4 srokes.

    (take offs/holeshots)- 2 stroke

(short MX tracks)- 2 stroke but 4 stroke will give it a run for it's money

(long tracks)- 4 stroke but 2 stroke will always catch you in the corners

(freestyle)- 2 stroke(this sport will keep 2 strokes alive)

(hill climbing)- 4 stroke hands down

(baja/flat out speed)- 4 stroke hands down

    (supermoto)- 4 stroke hands down

(trail riding)- 4 stroke hands down

  5. overall speed would probably be the 4 stroke, but I have only rode the CRF450 which is very fast.  But 2 stokes are nice, they are just disappearing.  I would say the YZ.
