  1. To answer the question, no, I didn't see it.

    Now... ouch.

Regardless of whether the Earth is in one of its warm stages, the human race is not helping.

Pretty soon the oil will run out anyway, and before that happens, everyone should be figuring out how to be less wasteful, and begin working to develop sustainable energy sources.

    Think of your grandchildren.

    Go Wings.

  2. I care about this planet and I believe in global warming. I don't think global warming is funny at all!

So i guess that makes me a hippie!

    BOOM!

  3. lmao i love the boom Chris Pronger thing (Y)

  4. The last thing we need is your garbage, causing global warming.

    BOOM

  5. If I ever ran into you I'd have to hit you into next year!

Don't you ever talk bad about Mike Richter or Al Gore AGAIN!

You know why this Earth is falling apart.....The Bush loving idiots like yourself. The ones who don't believe global warming is happening.....the ones who think "going green" is lame. Well, I take this stuff very seriously, sir. Going green and that "global warming thing" is very very important to me. Maybe I am a hippy.

Get your head out of Chris Pronger's @ss! BOOM!

***Oh, you sure? I make my decisions on whats popular? You don't even know me you pig!  How on Earth is the Earth doing this to itself? It is scientifically proven that it's not.

****It really is the self-centered arrogant @ssholes who don't know squat like yourself that make me this insane.

*****Honestly sometimes I wish the Earth would just burn up so I could look at the people like you and just sing this song

    http://youtube.com/watch?v=tsm2hSKkH7E

....hate to say I told you so, bub.

****Learn something about politics? I've been studying politics since I was 6 years old, hun.

HOWLER.....Yeah, I know. I'm really worked up right now and this wasn't the question for the moment. It should have been something to calm my nerves like "who will ave the best playoff beard next year" not something that insults everything I am. lol..........Plus I've been wanting to get in an arguement with someone all night. lmao

......I'm being civilized. This is a very serious subject to me. I've been researching politics and global warming for the past 10 years or so. You should have seen me when I was in 7th grade and some boy called me a "Green hippie".....now I went crazy there. If you think I just ranted.....that was nothing.

WAAAAIT! I THOUGHT THIS WAS THE HOCKEY SECTION! Lol..............One day I'll write a book called "HOCKEY AND POLITICS"

NYPENGWIN..........I get called a hippie quite a lot. lol.......I idolize John Lennon, and my favorite song is the John Lennon song "Give Peace a Chance"

  6. I hope this homo-for-pronger guy roasts in some petroleum.

"earth to the hippies that believe this. global warming is real BUT its not a man maid thing its a earth thing"

    Biggest cause of global warming?

    -Carbon dioxide from car exhaust

    Who drives those cars?

    PEOPLE.

That's why PEOPLE are trying to HELP against it, because only PEOPLE can HELP stop IT. IF you would take FIVE minutes out of YOUR day to DO SOMETHING about global warming and TRY to HELP it, INSTEAD of "make fun" of those who DO, the WORLD would HAVE A LONGER EXISTENCE.

    BOOM.

But it's caused by the earth's distance from the sun....?

NO. It's a GREENHOUSE effect. Burned FOSSIL FUELS are being TRAPPED in our OZONE layer, KEEPING the HEAT buildup INSIDE of the earth's ATMOSPHERE, and causing RECORD temperatures since the EARLY 1900s.

    BOOM.

Who cares about global warming, it won't effect us living now..?

NO. Do you PLAN on having a FAMILY? GLOBAL WARMING is causing polar ICE CAPS to melt, that have been there FOR hundreds of THOUSANDS of YEARS. With FRESHWATER ice caps MELTING, we LOSE a LOT of our FRESHWATER supply, and the OCEANS RISE, with the INCREASED amount of WATER melting INTO THEM. If the OCEANS continue to RISE, shorelines WILL be FLOODED, and all h**l WILL break loose.

    BOOM.

But this is the year of increased sunspots....?

YEAH. and SUNSPOTS are SUPPOSED to COOL the EARTH.

    BOOM.

    -

And for the record, I'm not a big Al Gore fan, so don't pull that out on me. He flies unnecessary private jets --using fuel-- all over the country preaching us all to help save the earth when his THREE multi-million dollar homes consume more energy than...a town. So, yeah. Not a fan of Gore.

    BOOMBOOMBOOMBOOMBOOMBOOMBOOM...

    ....stop.

  7. Hahahaha.  What study are you citing that makes you believe this?

I can come up with quite a few that says man has made global warming worse... the CFC's that ruin the ozone layer are definitely not a myth and don't occur naturally.

Though, yes, Richter's concussions do affect his judgement.  And his voice sounds like that of a little girl.  I love it heh.

EDIT:  Kate... the more you talk, the more awesome you become.

EDIT:  (a) it was a compliment.

    (b) You have no idea what kind of person I am.  None at all.  I rarely interact with you here, and quite frankly, very little of me shines through on this board.

    (c) But, I will say, you are DEAD WRONG about me.  I am a total skeptic.  I'm sorry if multiple credible scientific studies persuade me to pick a side that's different than yours.  Yes, the earth goes through cycles of warming and cooling.  BUT, man has definitely contributed to making them more extreme and sped up the process.  For evidence of this, just look at the unparalleled extinction rates over the last few decades.

To think what you do (or what other people do) has no effect on the earth or the environment is just ignorance.  You can call it hippie-propoganda or whatever you want, but ignoring it based on no evidence because you think it's a liberal conspiracy is insane and moronic.

EDIT:  First of all, there is no reason to insult anyone here, whether or not they agree with you.  (That's both to pronger and kate, heh).  This "typical conservative" and "typical liberal" c**p is what's wrong with politics of today... people work on labels and divisions instead of trying to focus on the issues and come to an actual conclusion.

Yes, this is a hot topic and we all disagree, but let's still be civilized.

EDIT:  Kate, I wasn't saying you were being uncivilized... it was a general warning to everyone to make sure this doesn't get out of hand (which I can see happening).  Once people start using ad hominem attacks instead of arguing the issue, there's no discussion (a la "Thank You for Smoking").  I, too, am very opinionated and enthusiastic on this issue.

And Pronger... while people don't know about the cause of the medieval warm period, they DO know that it wasn't as bad as this current warm period, and it was isolated to the north atlantic (while this is global).  Plus, they DO know that greenhouse gas emissions has contributed greatly to the current warm period.

EDIT:  Howler, I am very unhappy with the current state of politics in the US.  Plus, I see very little difference between the democrats and republicans, so I think it's insane how many people fight over those distinctions.  I'm probably one of the more extreme left wingers here, I'm registered as a Green, but I also pride myself on making my own decisions and trying to get educated on the issues.  Honestly... I probably would have problems dating someone who was socially conservative.  My beliefs are so pervasive in my life, I don't know if I could be that close to someone who disagrees.  I would try, but I just can't imagine us respecting the other enough.  I wouldn't want to "ignore" the issues for the sake of the relationship, since that's such a big part of who I am.

Generally, though, I do agree with you... everything is better in moderation.  I don't consider myself an extremist by any means, but I do think I am very liberal, and I am proud of that.

"If you're young and not liberal, you have no heart. If you're old and not conservative, you have no mind."  -Winston Churchill

EDIT:  Kate, I also love that quote.  It's so profound, so true.

It looks like we chased pronger away, heh.  I'm off to bed now... if anyone wants to continue this discussion, send me an email and ill reply tomorrow evening.

  8. WOW I didn't expect this type of question to pop up.

Me thinks I opened up a can of worms!!! LOL

Personally I like Mike Richter as a goalie and he has the right to his own beliefs as anyone else regardless of where he or anyone else stands on the Compass. Personally I think when he got into college after his NHL career he was indoctrinated and never had a chance to see all view from a pro and anti stance. I disagree with Richter on his views but still respect the man!!

    Kate

It's ok he has his views and you have yours!!

But as a friend here: He has the right to state his opinion about anything and other people just like you and me have that right too. Also we have the right to challenge someone else view point no matter who the person challenging/challenged and regardless on where anyone stands on the political compass.

    P.S. I still like you!!

  9. I would give Richter so many lefts he'd be begging for a right.

  10. Look who decided to join my science class this year and learned a thing or two about the earth! True: Global warming may not be caused SO MUCH by humans, but we're sure as h**l not helping. True: There are bigger issues. But wait a minute! You dis my main man Mike Richter or Al Gore (or Kate!!!) and you and I have a problem. You see, where I come from, those are fightin' words! So gloves off, fool! I'll knock YOU into next year.

Oh yes, and whatever Pronger does to you, it's not because he loves you, he's using you! Can't you see it? It's probably illegal as well.

KATE: Someone called me a hippie the other day ( I was sitting on the field playing my acoustic ) and I gave it to them. I think I scared him away. Haha.

Well, I only get called a hippie when playing acoustic because I tend to listen to punk rock, especially Anti-Flag, so that kind of gives me minus hippie points... However, they do incorporate politics. And I'm pretty sure they're ALL democrats.
