I have seen Hoopoes outside of the UK but have never seen one here. I would love to know if any body has seen them or knows where to see them . Thanks...

  1. make one

  2. Respect to you my friend.

I have never seen any bird like that in England. I always look out for unusual wildlife, but never seen anything like that.

  3. They occasionally turn up in Cornwall.   (H Potter says they appear on the Shetland Isles, thats 200 miles to the North of Scotland, I`m willing to bet she meant the Scilly Isles)

  4. No I have never seen one in the UK, but here in Spain you see them quite regularly. Beautiful birds, with their crest and mating sound in Spring. But we don't have stinging nettles here, of which I used to make a yummy soup!

  5. I've never seen one but if you go to Cornwall in March/April that would be the best place to see them. They fly across the edge of the south of England from Lands End right the way along the coast to Dover and have been spotted a few times in the Shetland Isles too. Look them up on the RSPB's web site.

EDIT: I did mean The Shetland Isles not the Scillies. See the RSPB website.
